Zifo is looking for a Technical Lead to lead the design, development and maintenance of complex business systems and applications. Working with the development team to follow approved life cycle methodologies, creating design documents and performing program coding and testing. The lead will be responsible for resolving technical issues through debugging, research and investigation. The individual will also work with business users, managers or developers of our customers. The individual will provide the consulting skills required to analyze customer needs and gaps and propose solutions to achieve the desired state. The individual will also manage a remote team and delegate design, documentation, development and testing activities.

Responsibilities{{:}}

· Technical Leadership{{:}} Provide technical leadership and guidance to a team of Java developers, ensuring the delivery of high-quality software solutions.

· Architecture and Design{{:}} Collaborate with architects and other stakeholders to design and implement robust and scalable Java-based applications.

· Development{{:}} Actively participate in the development of Java code, modules, and components, adhering to best practices and coding standards.

· Code Review{{:}} Conduct code reviews to maintain code quality, consistency, and security.

· Problem Solving{{:}} Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues and provide innovative solutions to technical challenges.

· Mentorship{{:}} Coach and mentor junior developers, helping them grow their skills and knowledge of Java development.

· Project Management{{:}} Oversee project development and ensure projects are completed within scope, budget, and timelines.

· Quality Assurance{{:}} Collaborate with QA teams to define test plans, conduct testing, and ensure the delivery of bug-free software.

· Documentation{{:}} Create and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, user manuals, and system documentation.

· Performance Optimization{{:}} Identify performance bottlenecks and implement optimizations to improve application performance.

· Technology Evaluation{{:}} Stay up-to-date with the latest Java technologies, tools, and best practices and recommend their adoption when appropriate.

Qualifications{{:}}

· Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field.

· Minimum 5 years' experience of Software Development.

· Proficiency in Java / J2EE, Webservices, Data Structures, Object Oriented Analysis and Design, Test Driven Development, Relational Databases, SQL and ORM

· Experience in designing, developing and maintaining Java applications.

· Experience in applying Data Structure concepts.

· Experience in R&D Informatics systems such as LIMS, ELN, SDMS would be preferred but not required.

· Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.

· Familiarity with software development methodologies (Agile, Scrum, etc.).

· Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

· Experience with continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) pipelines is a plus.

· Any relevant certifications (e.g., Oracle Certified Java Developer) would be advantageous.
